Waves of Blue

I love blue! And green!
It doesn't seem to matter to me which shade ... even a crappy old grey ...I will love it!
Dark or light, blue is always good.
I guess my favourite shade of blue would have a pretty decent jolt of green in it ... give me tropical water blue, and I am in colour heaven!
When I buy ink pads, yep ... the blues come first! So it wasn't at all unusual that I reached for the blues when I wanted to make some cards this morning.
Yesterday, I watched a tutorial by Gina Krupsky, of Gina K Designs ....

... and while I loved what she did, I had no luck using (or even tearing!) the paper for the masks, and then the edges went all crappy!

So this morning I grabbed a piece of Stampin' Up's 'Very Vanilla" ... cut a nice smooth curve, and went to town!

Here is what I did:

1. Cut the light card the same size as the card base  ... and keep both pieces. One you use at the bottom and work up, the second, matching piece, you use for the last one at the top.

2. Find a sentiment you like, (I used Happy Birthday, and this was my biggest one) ... and heat emboss it. For the first ones, I used a white/silver ... then later changed to Wow: Metallic Blue and Seafoam White by Ranger,  to see what other colours looked like.
I think a really pure white would look terrific, also one of the big, scripty sentiments that go right across the card. That would look fabulous!

3. Working in my blue palette of Distress Inks, I chose Tumbled Glass as my lightest shade, Peacock Feathers, and my all time FAVOURITE BLUE ~ Salty Ocean! I also used touches of Dusty Concord in a couple.

I also did a free-sponged rainbow one, which was a bit of a disaster till I redid it lightly using the curve, and it looked much better. I'd do this much differently if I did another with many colours though.

I worked from the bottom up ....

... changed the colours as I felt like it ...

Added a sun to one, and masked it when I added the blues ... a bit tricky to hold all the bits, and I had to switch hands with the sponger ...

See in the photo on the right, I've turned the card around, and am using the second piece of mask, which exactly matches the other piece ... so all the waves stay the same.

And SEQUINS! YAY! Add lots of sequins.

When I heat embossed this one I accidentally touched it with the tip of the heat gun, and made a drag mark ... almost threw it out.

By the time it was sponged it looked much better, and sequin added draws the eye away ...

For this one I changed the palette to Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky ... I kept Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean.

These were fun to make. A simple, one layer card with a white insert (I did ink the very edges) ... a sentiment inside "Have a Lovely Day" inked in Archival, and Handmade by me on the back!

Done!
